First (real) ER Visit

Mike got a text from Ms. Barbie that Blip fell off his scooter at school.  Mike was at a doctor's appointment he couldn't leave, so I left work to pick him up and check out bad it was.

I saw it and didn't know if it needed stitched or anything, so we hopped in the car to meet Mike at the ER...just in case.  I asked Mike to look at the cut and see what he thought...he was just as perplexed as I was, so we decided to let a doctor look at it to be on the safe side.

Even the doctor went back and forth on what the cut needed.  She ended un deciding to use glue so that the scar would be thinner/smaller.

Blip was a champ.  The glue burned and he had a good black eye, but he was tough and brave the whole time.  And of course making friends with all the nurses.

The glue was gone within several days.  It still looks like a mess to me, but I'm hoping with time it will heal and not scar too badly.  I"m glad his first visit wasn't awful...and it was super quick- in and out in an hour! Hopefully we won't need to return any time soon.

Eye Exam

With Baby Girl coming in March I sat down one day a few weeks ago to make all of our upcoming and necessary doctor appointments.  Dental exams, dermatology appointments, eye exams, etc.  I know once Baby Girl gets here things will get hectic for a bit, so I wanted to have everything out of the way. The first thing I took care of was Blip's annual eye exam.  It wasn't due until February, but I just wanted to get it taken care of.

Blip waited patiently with us (and by patiently I mean he played a game on my phone) in the waiting room and then walked back to the exam room when they called us back.  He was able to follow all the instructions on his own this time.  He listened and was able to put his chin where it belonged and look through the optics and follow the instructions.  I was pretty impressed.

When we got into the exam room, he climbed right up in the big chair and waited for more instructions.  Last year I had to hold him...and hold his head still for the doctor.  Not this year.  He seemed so big up in that chair...he followed all of the instructions and was able to complete the exam without any help from us.  Bro my heart just a little that he's so big, but it also made me proud of how he listened and behaved.

They needed to dilate his eyes to get the right prescription.  I said whatever they need to do (within reason, of course), but Mike was instantly angry...and then he's 'nice' to everyone.  Especially me.  (rolling my eyes)  I'm not sure why I get treated like pond scum because our son needs to have his eyes dilated, but at least I know from the last two appointments that it's coming, so I'm prepared for the attitude.  Oh well...such is life.

Blip needed a new, stronger prescription.  I couldn't care less if he needs glasses...I think they are adorable and whatever he needs to succeed it okay with me.  Mike, on the other hand, was upset the second the doctor said it.  He was visibly angry.  I get that glasses aren't what he wants his son to have in a perfect world, but in reality- what's the big deal!?  Who cares..??  There are so many things that would/could be so much worse than glasses...I don't think I will ever understand why he cares SOOOOO much that it affects him so negatively.

Blip didn't need new frames, so we got his prescription ordered and left.  Hopefully we don't have to return for another year.

First Friend/School Birthday Party

Blip was invited to Jude's 5th birthday party a few weeks ago.  It was a bowling party...and he LOVED Molly's bowling party, so I knew he'd love this one too.  And he did.  Blip was able to pick out an Avenger's gift for Jude, help wrap it, and then bring it in to the party like a big kid.  He bowled with Avery and Trevor, so life was gooood.

It was hard to take pictures in the dark, but we got a couple cute ones.  I'm sure this is just the beginning of the birthday party fun.  In fact...Blip's is next.

Snow Day

I took the day after Christmas off work to spend the day as a family...but Mike made plans to go hunting, so that was pretty much a wasted day off.  In hind sight...I should have sent Blip to his already paid for day care/school and gone to work, but I guess lesson learned.

So I did not take the day after New Year's off...why bother?  Of course Mike gets the idea AFTER I'm at work to go play in the snow up north.  After I made sure he had confirmed plans in place...I put a slip in a left a couple hours early.  We met up with Patrick, Sarah, and kids and caravanned to the snow.

We started towards Prescott, but didn't find anything, so we turned back north and made our way towards Flagstaff.  We pulled off at Munds Park and found the perfect little spot.  I knew with being pregnant I wouldn't be doing a lot (if any) actual playing in the snow, but I was perfectly content with that.  None of my snow clothes fit this year anyway with the baby bump I've got...and I wasn't buying anything this size, so I opt'd to sit and watch from the car...I was warm and there was no chance of slipping and falling (and ending up in the ER).

Our trip got started a little later than we hoped, but we had enough day light to make everyone happy.  As the sun started to set everyone was cold and done, so it was perfect.

After we got warmed up, we drove into Flagstaff and had dinner at Cracker Barrel.  A friend of mine that I went to the academy with, Wayne ands family were up playing in the snow too, so they joined us for dinner.  It was a really good time...totally worth missing work for. It was 9 degrees outside when we loaded back into the car to head home...I love Phoenix.

NYD 2015

We kept our tradition going this year and headed north to the Anthem Train Park.  We went about a week ago and Blip LOVED it, so we decided it was a good tradition to keep.  All the playground equipment was replaced over the last several months, so it made for an even better play-time experience.

We played for a bit and then it was time to ride the train.  The train has really (reallllly) slowed down, so the ride lasts about 15 minutes...and holy moly that thing moves slower than it used to.  Oh well...Blip still loves it and thinks it's awesome.  The weather was also very chilly for us Phoenicians...low 50's is FREEZING to us!

After our train ride we headed home to take care of a few things.  Blip's big boy room is getting closer and closer to being ready, but we needed to get a new fan purchased, so Mike could get it installed. There are only about 10 more weeks (if I go all 40 weeks) until Little Sister arrives.

I'm getting anxious to get this house in order and start really preparing for her arrival.
