When we finally got settled in here, the pool started becoming an issue...luckily it was winter, so it didn't affect our pool time. In May we finally got the pool back to 100% and we started getting excited to use it. Mike did use it once last September after we moved in, but he was in and out in seconds because the water was freezing.
It took until the middle of July (with our hectic schedule), but we finally had our first actual BBQ and swim party!! It was so much fun!! It was a small group...just Cody, Rebecca and their girls, Tatum & Maddie. And Mike is cleared from the doctor to swim, so he didn't have to sit out this time.

Mike and Cody grilled brauts and then we swam for hours. It was so relaxing and made the unbelievably hot day seem not so hot. We definitely need to buy a table and more chairs for outside...the two chairs we have are great, but only for 2.5 people. :) We filled Tatum with suckers, cookies and strawberry soda...since we don't have our own kids, we enjoy spoiling our friends kiddos. Hopefully they don't hate us for all the sugar intake.

We had so much fun with Tatum...she is such a smart, funny, well behaved 2 1/2 year old. At one point, she told us she was a little peanut (that's what her dad calls her). We laughed and she went on to tell us that Maddie is a little monkey, her mom is a rabbit and her dad is a cockadoodle. We got such a kick out of everything she had to say. She won't be three until November, but she already behaves/speaks as if she is an entire year older. Her vocabulary is huge and she is so smart. Mike and I wouldn't mind just keeping her...and her sister.
By the time we were done swimming and snacking...Maddie was already fast asleep and in bed. Tatum struggled to stay awake through dinner and then went down in our guest bed. She was out almost immediately!! The rest of the night the girls talked while the boys played video games.
It was a great way to spend a Saturday with amazing friends....I hope we get to do it more often.
